The Handstand Kids Cookbook Company Releases Mexican Cookbook
New Cookbook Series Helps Children Travel the World, One Recipe at a Time.
New York, NY -- The Handstand Kids Cookbook Company is proud to announce the release of The Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook, available Cinco de Mayo, 2008.
Kids ages three to 103 are encouraged to explore the taste, culture and language of Mexico through a colorful, hardbound and illustrated book that is packaged in a tortilla bag with an oven mitt. All ingredients and utensils are translated into Spanish so kid chefs can learn the language as they cook.
The Handstand Kids have diverse interests and backgrounds: Felix is a vegetarian, Izzy loves to cook for his diabetic sister, Ari uses her cooking skills to volunteer at kid's charities, Gabby speaks Spanish and English, and Marvin is an aspiring executive chef.
The Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook is the second book in the increasingly popular Handstand Kids cookbook series (the first featured the recipes and language of Italy). An esteemed expert on Mexican cooking and co-host of The Food Network's Melting Pot, Chef Aarón Sanchez, wrote the introduction to the cookbook. The Handstand Kid characters use their cooking skills in the book to create a food fundraiser for Common Threads, a non-profit organization founded by Oprah's personal chef, Art Smith.
Yvette Garfield, a law school graduate with a background in international children's rights, founded the Handstand Kids Cookbook Company. She has worked with various non-profit organizations and the Department of Justice, Children's Rights Section.
"The goal of the Handstand Kids Cookbook series is to create a global community of children. The series not only introduces kids to recipes from around the word, but encourages them to use their new skills to get involved in their community," said Yvette Garfield, author and founder of the Handstand Kids Cookbook Company. "Each book exposes children to a different charity and shows them how they can use their new cooking abilities to help others."
